JHARKHAND Chief Minister Hemant Soren is likely to undertake a comprehensive review of his ministers’ performance, signalling the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle aimed at improving governance and public delivery.
According to sources, the review, likely to take place after the Bihar assembly elections, will assess each department’s progress on key development indicators, including implementation of welfare schemes, infrastructure projects, and responses to citizens’ grievances. Ministers will be evaluated on the basis of measurable outcomes, budget utilisation, and field-level feedback gathered from district administrations.
Sources said the Chief Minister wants every department to function with greater efficiency and accountability. Those who have performed well may be entrusted with additional responsibilities, while underperforming departments could see leadership changes.
The move is being viewed as part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen administrative effectiveness and public confidence. The exercise is intended as a mechanism to re-energise the administration. The focus, according to sources, is on delivery.
However, the tensions among the alliance partners due to denial of seats to the JMM in Bihar by the alliance partners Rashtriya Janata Dal and Congress may also influence the Chief Minister’s decision while re-allocating ministries.
The JMM announced that it would not contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, citing “disrespect” and “indifference” from its allies.
Addressing a press conference, Jharkhand minister and senior JMM leader Sudivya Kumar said the party was “deeply disappointed” by the attitude of its partners in the Mahagathbandhan. “We entered the alliance with the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect,” he said.
“But our demands and presence were completely ignored by RJD, and the Congress too did not heed to our request.
